Amplify
The Amplify Tablet is the “first open, tablet-based platform designed specifically for teaching and learning.” Each tablet is loaded with innovative classroom management features (think Quick Poll and Eyes on Teacher) and open-source content organized into customizable lesson plans. W&N recently worked with Amplify to create middle school lesson plans aligned to Common Core - a very exciting initiative! The tablets are currently being piloted in classrooms to rave reviews.
Break Room Makeover Contest
W&N decided to kick off 2013 with a fresh look. We challenged our employees to participate in a contest to make over our break room into a more inviting environment. We had a great response with innovative designs that captured our passion for education as well as the unique qualities of Baltimore. Here are our winners!
WINNERS
- 1ST PLACE: Sean Morrissey
My design brings together the most attractive aspects of social spaces we encounter every day, while maintaining our own unique personality and love for this beautiful city.
It speaks to who we are, what we do, and where we're from.
Implement a few of the colors we know so well, those of our beloved Orioles and Ravens teams.
Given that we are an educational publishing vendor, it seems only right we have a chalkboard wall.

The most significant addition to the break room will be a mural. A team will brainstorm ideas to include that are related to education and to Baltimore.
